Amazing synth... brings back all that positive 80's vibe so well...
So has there been any fixes or any firmware updates
Please check their website Firmware V1.0.4 has been released with all the fixes I talked about in the video.
I love this synth. It’s my next big one
You won't be disappointed
Same here...
Homer Simpson said with drooling mouth: „Forbidden donut“ - I say (with also drooling mouth): Forbidden Synth (in relation to what I can or cannot afford).
Firmware V1.0.4 is already out with a bunch of fixes.
A dream synth!
Hi Kirk, firstly, we'd like to express how disappointed we are to see you have experienced a less than optimal out of the box experience. As with all new and innovative technology there have been some challenges to overcome on launch and we are working quickly to address any issues reported in the field. We wanted to come back and address some of the issues you raised in your video and hopefully reassure you that improvements are imminent. Group Solo Bug - We are aware of this bug and are addressing it in an upcoming firmware/software update scheduled for release on the 20th May. Function Key Storing User State - this has been fixed in the aforementioned firmware/software update scheduled for 20th May release. Profile Switching - what you demonstrated is actually an expected behaviour and appears to be caused by you using Sonarworks Profiles created during the trial period without being connected to the ORIA Desktop App. In order to prevent users from perpetually using trial Profiles, ORIA references the ORIA Desktop App for a date and time code to ensure the trial is still valid. If a user is not connected to the app it will freeze the trial Profiles and prevent them from switching between the trial Profiles. This would be resolved by connecting ORIA to your computer. If you would like to switch Profiles in standalone mode you would need to purchase a full SoundID License and simply re-export the Profiles to ORIA and it will work without being connected to the ORIA Desktop App. This is to prevent trial profiles working beyond the SoundID trial period. However, we acknowledge we could improve our documentation around this subject and will look to address it in an updated manual. Please note, Profiles created manually (not using Sonarworks) will work regardless of being connected to the computer. Please contact support@audient.com should you experience any more unexpected behaviour. Thanks Audient
are you able to get into the "console" where you manage inputs, loopback and so on? it's all about monitoring but it is an interface aswell so I cant find to much info about it ....
Hi there, the ORIA low latency mixer will be available in a upcoming update scheduled for mid June.
Just great sounds! I think this must be one of the most analog-sounding wavetable synths along with the UDO Super Gemini. This the highest now on my list - so versatile
Habe genau die selben Probleme wie du bei dem Interface, funktioniert bei dir die Einmessung via Soundid ?
What issue did you have with the measurement with SoundID?
oh dear
Hello there Kirk. I wanted to ask you a question. Im working on a video documenting the uses of samples and synthesizers used for songs in the DDR games. I was wondering if you perhaps remembered any of the synths, gear, or anything you used for Get Up N Move. Your information will help us greatly. Thank you!
Oh thats nice. Well there was that famous piano coming from Korg M1, Bass was SE1, Lead Synth I think was a mix of a Roland JD800 and Moog Prodigy. The rest E-MU EMAX sampler, E-MU Proteus 1, Roland JD990, Roland MKS50. Please let me know about your documentary.
@@KirkMonteux Thank you so much. Currently busy with school and looking for other artists that had songs in dancemania and ddr to contact but ill be sure to let you know when its out
best synthesizer ever.
It does looks like, but there never will be a synth perfect for all of us
@@KirkMonteux true
sounds a bit digital though
So, how did U do the EQ Correction for SUB and the KH310? Via Neuman Controle App?
Yes I did but with some hurdles. You'll find more information in my pinnend comment!
Thanks for this, Kirk. Fantastic sound design and expressive playing. We appreciate your support!
The patch at 27:00 is amazing. Is that your creation or a factory patch?
All the patches I played are factory once, sometimes slightly tweaked to my favor.
Its the same as the sound from Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax
There's definitely an Oberheim vibe to some of those patches.
yes absolutely
Great demo of my fave synth!!
Thank you so much! Are you planning a 2nd patch collection for the 3rd Wave?
Since version 1.2.0 (27/May/2021) dual sub alignment in one setup is possible with Neumann MA1.
Can the Novation Summit do the same things with its wavetable oscillators and sound just as good?
nope
Thank you for providing such a useful video, I really appreciate it. I am setting up a 2.2 system with dual 310 + dual 750 like you, but I have a small question, can you help me? I have looked through your comments and profile, but I can’t find the answer. Do I need to input the analog signal L to both 750s at the same time (and R likewise)? How did you do it?
Push!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Man I hate saying this but I'm going to say it: this sounds better than my OB-X8...27:34 is a better example of that patch than I'd even be able to tease out of the OB. Add the beautiful fx, multi timbrality, a sequencer, huge mod matrix and 24 voices for the same money? A compelling case. As for my Hydrasynth Deluxe, that's probably going up for sale this weekend...seems like there may be some blue in my future...nice demo!
You won't regret it!!!
I am trying hard to decide between the OBX8 and 3rd Wave. Biggest off putting thing for me re the OBX8 is price considering it does bi timbrality really bad. It more ment for layers than 2 separate sounds. Thats way to expensive per part for me.
Only thing I see missing on this would be a ribbon controller just above the keyboard.
I have the Hydrasynth Deluxe. Ribbon controller is cool but I haven't found a ton of practical application for it (probably because I've never had a synth with this feature and am just not used to using it. I usually forget it's there!)
Gary Wright used a ribbon controller on his Poymoog on the Touch and Gone album. Hard to describe unless you hear it. Actually on the title track solo he just does some slides but there is another track called "Night Ride" which is more of a polysynth guitar solo that he does with the ribbon controller. Unbelievable. @@skysavvydrone
Wonderful instrument. I have had a Korg Wavestation since the 1990's and still appreciate how ahead of its time that instrument was. This would take that to the next level for sure.
You are absolutely right, I had a Wavestation as well and still have a Wavestation in rack and now the 3rd Wave! And indeed some of the moving sounds you can make with this instrument ressemble a lot to the Wavestation. One huge advantage of the 3rd Wave is the ease of programming !
not implementing PA keyb was a huge mistake. I think thats also the reason module has been realesed so fast. Still im wondering if half the knobs on module make the control the same as kbed unit. I guess not so why have they did that? the most expensive parts are internals not control board with knobs?
I almost cried at the brilliance of some of these sounds. Not even joking lol
So many great sounds in this demo. Would be a great board for someone wanting a synth that can do massive amounts of sound design that can sound digital and analogue, or both at the same time. Certainly wouldn’t recommend it for a beginner or early synth enthusiast since the learning curve is a 90 degree angle straight upwards.
Actually the layout is very straight forward even for beginners. Also the printed manual that comes with is fantastic and easy to read.
Maybe it's just a weird angle, but it looks like your control panel is angled up more than normal on the 3rd wave?
The interest comes from the multi layers. It seems like synth makers are going for this a lot not. Moog One, has 3 layers, 3 synths in 1. Nord Wave 2, 4 layers. Korg Wave State, 4 layers...You can create amazing sounds with 3-4 layers on almost any synth that has separate effects for each layer. The virtual analog part of this synth's sound is a big part of what makes it so attractive. Not only do you have the wave table, but you have this very good analog sound with the analog filter.
That’s what was/is great about the Kurzweil K series last few operating system releases. Thirty two layers with the drum programs. Easily used for samples and waves. Add FUN’s and sky’s the limit. I imagine the VAST would be great with a better sampling rate and the headroom it provides
Yes, true. With a good computer avec some ridiculously cheap vsts I can layer untill ... a lot of sounds and work to get thick sounds like that. The limitation is the quality of the audio chain output. The result is greatly sufficient to me.
Thank you for the no-talk video of this incredible machine
Love this!
Man sounds awesome great demo
What a great demonstration of the Osmose; the best I've seen yet.
Waldorf Quantum Mk2 >
Underrated synth
Nice demo. No doubt the 3rd Wave is a fantastic synth. But I wouldn't swap it for my Waldorf Q or Waldorf XTK. I'm afraid those exotiscs are the real stuff...with PPG legacy.
Osmose and Pigments are made for each other 😉
Excellent stuff! Thanks for going through the patches. Gives everyone an idea of some of what is capable of. And 9:47 to 10:37 is quite the groove!
nice !
Amazing ☺♥♪
Some day next spring I will own you, you fantastic blue beast! Outstanding demo, btw, perhaps the best on YT.
Thank you much appreciated
Fantastic demo of a great synth!
👌But why I not buy this?I was working on Absynth and the eventide shimmer verb.Well........
Outstanding
I enjoyed your playing. Thanks for sharing! For anyone interested in the 3rd Wave who doesn't have room for another full size keyboard, I'll note that the desktop version is still very knobby and quite well thought out. Inputs and outputs are identical between the keyboard and desktop version. The desktop version will save you ~$1500 as well. Happy music making!
Looks like the desktop has a better screen but can't tell. Only has half the knobs so not sure how it can compare in UI. Typically the interface stays the same like on the Oberheim. Why did they eliminate all the interfacing unless the screen is more advanced but can't tell. Something is amiss if half the controls are gone and so are the keys and it's only $1,500 less. Seems like half the synth is missing. Just because the keys have been removed everything else should remain. Only 41 knobs verses 76 not including the buttons. That's not a good deal.
@@davlippo7I have the desktop and the workflow is really fast and good on it. Not saying that it is as good as the keyboardversion, but close (tried it). Imo they did an excellent work to fit as much as possible on the desktopversion. About pricing. I believe that it’s the internal that costs most money. The desktop has everything that the keyboard have inside it. Hope you could try it for yourself. 😊
@@P-S-T I second this. Have the desktop version, UI and Workflow are top notch for a desktop. Paired with an Osmose for MPE control and it's heavenly.
Good point. I was wondering the same thing.
Love your choices. at least some of these are not the factory patches. For instance, the CS80 patch, where did you get this?
That was based on an original patch did some changes until it sounded CS80ish. I changed a lot of patches in this video but didn't renamed those.
Also, if there’s anyway you could indicate which factory patches were used for which sounds ( like you did for the first few patches), that would be most helpful.
This synth has a very high price tag. Does it at least include polyphonic aftertouch?
No it doesn't. However the latest firmware enabled MPE I'll demonstrate this in conjunction with my Osmose some time soon.
Using an external keyboard with PolyAT (and more, with the Osmose) should mean that one could save a lot of money buying the module version of the 3rd Wave rather than the keyboard version. Are the module and the keyboard versions the same except for the presence or absence of the keyboard?
@@Ribbonium I had the same arguments to my self at the end I decided to go with the keyboard version because more knobs and the keyboard right in front of you what makes sound design much more encouraging
@@KirkMonteux Yes, I have the same experience. For sound design and real-time tweaking, it's much more convenient to have the built-in keyboard right in front of you. I love what I've heard of this synth, enough to even consider buying at the high price point. However, I use various scale tunings in my music, such as Just Intonation. The 3rd Wave, as it is now, can't tune the scale. However, Groove Synthesis has assured me that this feature is coming -- not in the next update, but in the one following. I'll wait to see how they implement microtuning. If it's a good implementation, I will be very tempted by this synth, even with the high price. Just now looking at photos of the keyboard and module versions, I see that there are LOTS more knobs on the keyboard version! That's a big deal. Thank you for pointing this out.
@@RibboniumThe module version has fewer knobs, i.e. no knob per function and smaller buttons. Otherwise they are identical.
